  1. Know your rights

Ok, so there is a massive storm and it looks like you are not going to be flying in the next few hours, or maybe your flight is overbooked and you’ve been left at the…

News Update: Nigeria Suspends Gambian National Airline Over Ebola Virus

This is really getting out of hand….

Worldtraveland

Nigeria-Civil-Aviation-Authority

Nigeria has suspended the Gambian national airline from flying into the country, alleging “unsatisfactory” measures by the airline to contain the spread of Ebola virus, officials said on Sunday.

The “NCAA (Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority) has reviewed the measures put in place by your airline as contained in your letter of 30th July, 2014 and have found these measures unsatisfactory,” NCAA said in a letter to Gambia Bird Airlines.

“Consequently, your flights into Nigeria have been temporarily suspended with immediate effect until such a time that you are able to put in place acceptable and satisfactory measures,” said the letter, a copy of which was sent to AFP.

The contents of the airline’s letter to the NCAA were not disclosed.

NCAA is the government agency that serves as watchdog for all airlines operating in the country.

The Gambian national carrier flies to Lagos twice weekly. It also flies to other…

President-Jonathan-July-2014-BN-News-e-passport-July-2014-BellaNaija.com-91-3

On Wednesday, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan launched and obtained the 64 page e-passport in Abuja. The existing e-passport is 32 page.

The Presidency reveals that the 64 page e-passport conforms with international best practices. It helps frequent travelers, it is gender friendly, and more cost effective for low income earners.

The cost for the passport which is strictly for frequent travelers, is N8,750. It has also been stated that this new passport in no way invalidates the 32 page passport.

The President also had a word for Nigerians and how they portray the country outside the shores. He urged Nigerians to paint respectful pictures of their country so that others would see it in the same light.

The President then proceeded to be the first citizen to get the e-passport followed by the Vice President, Namadi Sambo, as they got captured by the Immigration officials.

The e-passport takes off from…

How to survive that long flight

Worldtraveland

DSC_0023-1

Here are some tips on how to feel good and comfortable in a long flight:

DRINK PLENTY: Economy flights rarely provide enough water for passengers, so take a two-litre bottle with you. As you dehydrate, your blood thickens, making a clot more likely. The recycled, air-conditioned atmosphere on a plane is as dry as a desert, so drink plenty of fruit juice and water before and during your flight, especially if you are returning from a hot country and are already dehydrated. Avoid tea, coffee, colas and other caffeinated drinks, which are all diuretics.
TAKE AN ASPIRIN: A 75mg aspirin on the morning of your flight, with one per day for the following two or three days, can lower your risk of a Deep vein thrombosis  (DVT) by one-third, says Farroll Kahn, because it thins the blood. However, if you have not taken aspirin before or have stomach problems…

The Facebook Experiment: the ‘why’ questions…

For profit reasons or for sociology?….. these are the questions I think the experiment is yet to answer….besides aren’t businesses going to gain since the experiment Will provide alternate ways of marketing ?

Paul Bernal's Blog

Facebook question markA great deal has been written about the Facebook experiment – what did they actually do, how did they do it, what was the effect, was it ethical, was it legal, will it be challenged and so forth – but I think we need to step back a little and ask two further questions. Why did they do the experiment, and why did they publish it in this ‘academic’ form.

What Facebook tell us about their motivations for the experiment should be taken with a distinct pinch of salt: we need to look further. What Facebook does, it generally does for one simple reason: to benefit Facebook’s bottom line. They do things to build their business, and to make more money. That may involve getting more subscribers, or making those subscribers stay online for longer, or, most crucially and most directly, by getting more money from its advertisers. Subscribers are…
